[Opens door, walks in sheepishly and furtively.]
In high school, I went to a Paula Abdul and a Samantha Fox concert. By choice. [Turns, quietly leaves, cheeks flush.] |
Ahhh...Barry Manilow! A friend of mine had tickets for the last time he was in town...she was practically having to PAY her children to go with her...I would have gone..but I had other obligations...
John Denver huh...My grandfather was something of a small time concert promoter in the 60's-70's - He has the cancelled check from booking John Denver in my hometown...many many eons ago... dorky yes...but I felt obligated to share my families small claim to fame! |
My first concert experience was a really big deal.
My friend's dad, who was this ultra hip guy, took us to see The Beach Boys at the Hollywood Bowl. I think it was 1982 because I somehow remember it being fall, but it could very well have been during the first half of 1983. I was in the 6th grade. All my conccert experience to date had been classical stuff for my mom, who is a classical double bassist. Not only did we go to the concert, we drove to the concert in a classic woody station wagon, had excellent box seats, great dinners from a restaurant on Melrose, AND backstage passes! We just kind of hung out back there, not doing much. After the concert, we went to the beach. It was one cool experience. |
Ha, GC. I can seriously top that....
I went to see Shaun Cassidy. Twice. :o I will not lie~I LOVED the shows!! |

GC~ that is one cool aunt. My sister did stuff like that for us when we were growing up {she is almost 10 years older than I am}.
Oh man, yes, I think I still love David Cassidy. Those old Partridge Family shows, mmm mmm mmm. Shaun was so sexy to me but I didn't really know what it all meant at that age {what, 11? 12?} Now take me to see Chris Cornell shirtless and I know why I feel that way! |
