I had no idea Anne Geddes could inspire such a passionate response from so many.

I used to like Anne Geddes - quite a while ago when my kids where just tiny babies and I could picture them dressed up in a cute photo. Don't really care one way or another now though. I didn't realize so many people couldn't stand her photos though.

I've never been a fan of Anne Geddes stuff. But I know there are people who like that kind of thing. But still, an ENTIRE store??? Can't we have a cooler place than another "theme" store?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I like cute babies.

But a WHOLE FREAKIN' STORE? And they do get kinda creepy after a while. They so could have picked something better.

Have to admit, I've never liked that stuff. That black and white then colorized thing bugs me...

I mean, huh? Who are these odd children dressed in vintage clothes, making out on street corners? Little kids kissing each other really quick is ok, but making out...especially if you look at the whole gallery, it's like Anderson had these kids make out for an hour.

I LOVE collorized photos. Real, vintage ones. You can tell the care and technique that went into each one - and they were done individually.

Now, it's just a computer generated look. Still fine, but without the charm of the stunning originals.

The thing about Geddes that bugs me is what bugs me about Shag or Christopher Radko at Disneyland. They market it as "fine art" but it's not. It's just decent design of a "product". It's a decent product, but it's basically production work.

But, whatever. I can't wait to see Chris dressed as a bumble bee.

Wouldn't it be fun to go a group portrait of LoTters as Geddes characters?

Now *that* sounds like a fun Photoshop project.....

Ickiest thread ever...

The Geddes images that I cringe at the most are the ones with babies hanging in sheer nylon bags, often dangling from a woman's stomach, like some kind of mutant external pregnancy. EEEEW! Other pictures have these teeny little preemie looking infants just dangling in a bag in the air. Disturbing. Reminds me of the Suburban Lawns song "I Can't Bag Your Love," ("Squeeze it til it sags, baby in a bag, baby in a bag...")

I'm glad I'm not the only one who isn't charmed by this stuff. (I'm also really happy that the baby character trend has faded - y'know, Muppet Babies, Disney Babies, Baby Pooh, Pup Named Scooby Doo, Baby Mutant Ninja Turtles, Justice Babies of America, Baby Friends, Baby Seinfeld, Who Wants To Be A Baby, etc)
