You know you are old when third wave ska is old skool. ;)

Of course, I'm too young for the 1st wave stuff - although I listened to my share of Desmond Decker. But I was all about Madness, Selector, Specials, The Beat, Bodysnatchers and others crossed over into the Mod scene as well. I saw all of these band in the early 80's except The Specials. I'm not sure how I missed them. Madness was at the Whisky and The Go Go's (with a hefty Belinda) opened for them. Ahhhh youth.

Wish I could say I've been buying a lot of music, but I simply havent. My most recent purchases have been stuff I've mentioned already...

I'm simply enjoying what I have at the moment.

On my iPod is currently Etta James - "I'd Rather Go Blind"

Gotta love it!

I'm not sure if people here have heard but Dallas Cook was killed a few weeks ago.

I'm thinking of checking out that new album from Anoushka Shankar, Rise.

I also am thinking of downloading the whole album from M.I.A off iTunes. She's a Brit/Sri Lankan rapper. I got the free download, Galang, and it rocks. It's actually being used for a car commercial now.

And everyone needs to check out Sinister Dexter!

I tunes doesn't have sinister dexter! Bad iTunes. (edit: they do now!)

I think you'd like the MIA album. It's a lot of fun and would be great workout music if I worked out.

Of the Shankar spawn, I think I still prefer Nora Jones over Anushka Shankar. I'm not sure why she hasn't appealed to me but I haven't "gotten" her yet.

What's even funnier is that I get her and Bebel Gilberto confused.

I haven't taken the Moulin Rouge soundtrack out of my car CD for over a week. I've been playing the Roxanne Tango on super loud as I swerve down the street. I'm going to get in big trouble very soon.

How do you pronounce Sufjan? I sat suf-jan. Is that right? Soof-jan? Suf-i-an?

Not to brag (I swear!!) but my mom and uncle are actually friends with Etta James. They went to her son's wedding a few months ago. She loves to use my uncle as her bus driver. They told me she is really, really nice. And really funny! I have yet to see her though... :( It always seems like I miss the chance because I have other plans.

I've been listening to Madonna's new album for the past few weeks.
Can't wait to buy it on Tuesday!
