GD talked me into it. It didnt' take much talking though. We've never gone to anything like this, ever. And I've never even seen a normal big name concert. Ever. So I think the money is justified.

I'm excited. :D

Hmmm... Get a line-up of great friends, and I'm certain getting tickets will happen.. Hmmm..

Woohoo - Desert Swankfest at the Polo Field!

Bright Eyes is a new "up and coming" act according to Spin Magazine. I just read about their lead singer last night. "Catholic prep-schooler, "new Dylan," antiwar radical, folk-rock messiah, and boy du jour--Conor Oberst feels our pain more tunefully than we do."

They might be worth checking out as a newer discovery.

Okay, so the geniuses scheduled this during Passover. We'll still be going, but it means we won't be able to eat bread, or anything that resembles bread. And everyone knows that one of the best parts of a festival concert like this is the food options. Sigh.

It also ocurred to me that I may be spending the week leading up to this in San Francisco at a conference. We had been thinking that if I do go to this conference, I'd extend my stay up there and CP would fly up to spend the weekend. I guess that's not happening afterall, eh? That may be one long, crazy week for me.

Sweet, my sister just booked a room at the same motel as us for her and her husband. This is going to be so much fun!

Cool! I like your sister and BIL.

Bright Eyes has been getting a lot of press lately and so has The Arcade Fire (which I am attracted to).

But, what excites me most:
Coldplay
Bauhaus (haven't seen since 1981 at the Whisky)
Chemical Brothers
Keane
Mercury Rev
Cafe Tacuba
The Kills
NIN (Saw the tour with David Bowie and they were great)
New Order (I miss Joy Division)
Prodigy
Dresden Dolls
Tegan and Sara
Jem (!!!!!!!)

He is.

Last saw him and the band in New Orleans a few months ago. Jangly pain can be intensely beautiful, and that's all I have to say about that.

I wish I had been there when BJORK herself appeared. Poot da cheekin in da potten, BJORK BJORK BJORK!

How much was it for the motel GD? It isn't during the first two nights of Passover is it??

Ghoulish Delight 02-01-2005 05:22 PM

No, it's the end of Passover, so it shouldn't intefere with any Sedars. We got rooms at $57 a night. Those are going fast (last I checked, the motel we're at only had a few rooms with 2 full beds left, no queens). But there should still be something around that's reasonable. The coachella website has a pretty comprehensive list of hotels/motels in the area.
