My Mom used to say "You know, you'd be pretty if........(inseert your nose was smaller, your teetth were straighter, you had a figure, you didn't wear that). I finaly said to her, Mom, I will NEVER be clasically pretty and I'm fine with that. Why don't you be fine with it too, ok?

About a year ago I was getting my hair cut when my stylist said "You know your hair is starting to recede you might want to do something about it."

I replied: "Look, I'm married and I've procreated. My hair has done it's job. Past this who cares..."

Somehow I don't think that's the reply she was expecting.

I'm not sure what classically pretty is considered, but I would have to dissagree with you otherwise. I always felt you were very pretty. Honest.

I know this is not worse ... but my family was always doing the opposite - - showering me with absurd flattery about my looks that only made me feel uglier.

Maybe it's difficult for families to achieve perfect pitch in this area. Mostly I think they should just shut up about it.

I know what you mean. My wife's family carry on about how perfect I am, and that makes me feel like I could never measure up, and makes my wife feel inadequate. At those times I just want to tell them to shut up, too!

Oh yeah, all of the nicking over the years it is hard to take a compliment. Or, that people are just being nice.

I got my tooth fixed finally yesterday. It's not as permanent as I would like, but it's what I can afford right now. I also decided to use up my deductable for the year and get my teeth cleaned, too.
:)

I think it looks weird still because it is newer looking than the tooth right next to it. But oh well. I'll fix the others when I find a job in LA.
