Funny you should ask in the very thread that inspired me to one of my rare signatures (it may very well be gone tomorrow, with no replacement for months).

And that is - I don't like my signature to appear immediately below the text of my posts. Were it a graphic signature, that placement wouldn't be a problem. But text right up against text looks bad, imo.

So, I force some space with the most subtle character I could think of.

.

Ah.

If you put the blank lines at the beginning of the signature you wouldn't have to remember it (unless the short line is part of the problem, too) and it would go away from the post when you do away with the signature.

Not that I'm complaining either way, I was just curious.

Yeah, the line bugs me.

I generally don't like signatures, so it'll be a distraction to others for two weeks out of the year. I know the lack of signature makes me a message board weirdo, but that's that.

btw, where's your avatar, Alex?

(heheh, asks the man who changes his avatar three times a year).

Probably right next to his list of favorite smilies.

I will always like Alex for his post (on MP) listing the words that were blocked by the filter (this was a few years back).

I didn't laugh until she said something funny, but then I laughed my ass off. If only Kevy hadn't blown the best punchline  :p

Did you know there are options in the control panel to turn off avatars and signatures?

I did.

Did you know this makes for a much more visually pleasing display of threads?

I knew that too.

And as a bonus did you know, did you know you can set it so that 100 posts show per page?

That is good too.

Having 90% of threads on a single page with no distracting avatars or signatures makes reading flow smoothly. Thus your blank lines and a period looked even more odd since there is no signature after them.

In all my time on message boards I have only had an avatar once (for about a month and only because Lani asked me to) and don't recall ever have a signature. I do use one on LJ but there it serves a function unnecessary to me on message boards.

Alas, LSPoorEeyorick, has spoken!

LOL But I also thought someone here worked there. Or perhaps it was you who had posted that she runs a very nice 'ship' and there is no negativity allowed? I love that.

Well, someday I would love to go, thank you very much. :snap: :snap:

I would love it even more if some swanky people also went.....:D

Old people. My mom is old. What I get is that they just say and do whatever they damn well please. Unfortunately, I am learning from her.

I am not old {she says as she feels another birthday breathing down her neck}. It is not funny. I am trying to learn to smile and be quiet.

LSPoorEeyorick 01-28-2007 02:26 PM

Yeah, it was me who posted that she keeps negativity outside of the office. And let me know if you (plural) want to attend. :)

MouseWife 01-28-2007 03:28 PM

Thank you!

How is taping?

I am off the end of March into April........

not that the 'you' of us all has to plan around me. :D

{and, if she ever, ever, ever is going to have Chris Cornell on, please let me know!!!!}:D :D
