Cool - where did you find all those?

Not Afraid 02-02-2007 03:55 PM

On the shared drive.

I think this link will work but if you'd like a slideshow of my general photos from the area (no campground photos) taken May 2005, here are 85 or so.

Great pics, Alex. I didn't notice the date on your post and I thought it was much later than May. Things look a bit dryer than they normally do in May. Although, it does very from year to year.

Assuming the exif information in the photos is correct most of them were taken May 25 which is later in the month than I thought it had been.

It was beautiful weather (though still cold at night) but the river was still running pretty full.

Oh? Dare I ask which ones were especially avatarish?

I've been there in August and that river is still churning. Actually, the coldest camping trip I think we've ever done was Tuolume Meadows in mid-August. That was the year they didn't even open up Tioga until July 1 due to the snow. It was 27 at night in Whilte Wolf Campgroud. We were NOT prepared. I think I bought my first polartec that trip.
Oh, that was also the trip Chris saw his first "Large Black Dog" in the forest. It was running.....fast. Luckily it was running away from us because it wasn't a dog.

We spent 5 days one July during which there were still large snow drifts all over the place.

Yeah, that's why the higher elevations are a bit more of a crap shoot early in the year. You never know just how cold it will be. My brother said it has been unusually cold this year - and he's lived in the Sierras for 30 years.
