With the changeover coming in 2009 anyway we've held off on even thinking about getting an HD set for now. But I'm still very curious nonetheless.

I never understood why people ranted about the difference, but now that I have seen it, I understand. It's not about seeing the pores -its about the overall clarity.

It depends on what you're watching and what you're looking for. There are certain things that are unmistakably superior in HD. When we visited the mousepod abode, CP and I happily stared at his HD screen showing nothing but a static (as in no camera motion, it was a moving picture) shot of a creek with a little bit of running water...and we were sober! It was truly amazing.

Watching sitcoms...not so much.

Watching sports, I've found to be a mixed bag and depends greatly on the quality and type of HD tv. For example, on an LCD, the field looks amazing and you can really see things clearly...until the play starts. The pixel refresh rate on LCD is just too slow to keep up with the fast pace and to my eye, football players in motion look worse on an LCD HD tv than on a standard definition tube television. Plasma and DLP doesn't have that problem that I've noticed.

NASCAR looks freakin' amazing. Unfortunately, I am not a NASCAR fan.

I wonder of that was the Sunrise program (I don't rememebr the exact name) on Discovery - it is actually a series with static cameras showing various sunrises from around the world

Hockey is amazing on HD. Not that I would ever watch such a sport.

Hockey needs cheerleaders

West Side Story was pretty awesome in HD

The best thing I've seen so far in HD though, is Bikini Destinations ;)

I love the list of names:

(Top Row)Allison, Katie, Amber, Tammara, Nicole, Aimee, Monique (Bottom Row) Krystal, Brooklyn, Brittany, Lindsey, Jennifer.
Is it just me or is that like the quintessential 80's babies list of names?

Either that or a listing of available girls on a porn site (not that I would know anything about that).

what? no Bambi?

not to mention Im not sure HD + porn would be a good thing or a really really bad thing.

hmmm, I must investigate this

(and yeah, NASCAR rocks in HD)
