The WSU/Vanderbilt game was brutal. The Cougs lost, but it was most certainly not an easy win for their opponents.

Blah, I'm sure the Cougars are great, and they didn't beat me up a decade ago when I sat shoulder to shoulder with them at the 1998 Rose Bowl when they went against the Wolverines, but I can't shake the feeling of being boo'd for wearing UofM colors in the general admission seats.
I figured since I was attending the Rose Bowl alone (my HS buddies were in the student section) I would be at least not boo'd... but that wasn't the case, and it happened three times throughout the game. I am still mad that fans singled me out. I smiled and laughed, but have secretly (though not so much today) hated them ever since. I'm glad they lost. Go Vandy and go SEC! (To be noted, on that incident alone, I care for WSU about as much as I do the Buckeyes. Michiganders will know - Ohio must be DEFEATED!) |
Woo-hoo! I have 7 of the 8 remaining correct and all 4 final four teams alive. My only miss was Texas A&M over Memphis, and that was a close one (A&M gacked and chould have won.....how many offensive rebounds did they give on that last sequence????). That being said....
Georgetown didn't deserve to win, with a pretty obvious travel before the last shot, and I think Ohio State should have been out two games ago and that Oden was given special treatment twice - once against Xavier, when he committed what O thought was an obvious intentional foul at the end which was not called as such (shoved the guy 6 feet OB), and the next vs Tennessee, when with two minutes left he was allowed to come back in with blood on his jersey (quite a bit of it) after being told to leave and get a different jersey, which he couldn't find. UNC showed why I picked them to win it all. They are so deep they looked like they had just started the game while USC could hardly get up and down the court anymore. |
Boy am I glad I don't work at Wells any more. The guy next to me, who was a dick at the best of times, was one of those people who ten years after they finish college still define themselves by it.
In a department of 200 people he was the only one where I knew their college. And when he found out I went to a different Pac-10 school everything immediately became a competition. I didn't care about college sports when I was in college (it helped that Washington won their football co-championship the year before I got there and then spent my term embroiled in a violations controversy), I certainly don't care about them now, and didn't really think losing or winning business requirement battles with him would somehow reflect upon an inter-conference rivalry. I imagine he is pretty insufferable right about now. |
