We have our midnight showing tickets. I'll post at 4am or something. Or I can do a running commentary during the movie via a Blackberry.

We've got tickets for Thursday at 8. Maddy will be surprised.

iSm I didn't see your guitar post until after the event, plus we didn't get that close.

I also enjoy fun, silly movies. I found Dead Man's Chest to be neither silly nor fun. I won't reiterate because I've posted many times about how angry I was at the choices they made.

Jack running from angry natives as a shish-kabob is silly. Dueling on a rolling water wheel is silly.

Having Jack be a dick instead of a scoundrel is messed up. Elizabeth became a bitch, and Will went from vaguely galant to unbearably milquetoast. The characters were savaged, were horrible to each other, and were made completey unlikeable and unsympathetic.

And yeah, the "story" was merely a string of events. Perhaps that's not fair, considering it was the set-up of a longer tale ... but that's what it was. And making me hate the characters simply did not inspire me to want to see the rest of the tale.

Where are the reviews of Pirates 3???

Because that always makes one popular at the theatre!

Yeah, but she still looks hot, so that is forgiven.

Sadly, I found her appearance worrisome in the second movie. She was incredibly beautiful in the first film, but by #2, she had clearly succumbed to the all too common anorexia/bulimia scourge so common to H'wood starlets. (Though I faintly remember reading her denial of this in the press.) Her head looked ungainly and huge on top of her emaciated frame. That, added to the unpleasant direction of her character, made me sad. I'm hoping she'll have eaten a sandwich or two before making this third film.

And you are right, my Friday starts earlier all the time. LOL

I fear that you are out of luck my friend.

Correct me if I am wrong, but were not #2 and #3 shot at the same time?

innerSpaceman 05-21-2007 09:59 AM

Yes, but part 3 was lensed after lunch.

I'm seeing in 2 hours but my review won't be until Friday. Maybe I can get all Allan Greenspan and tip my hand subtly without actually saying anything.

The people from MousePad who were in the screening on Saturday that I saw (I haven't checked the thread since yesterday morning) liked it. But if ever there is an environment designed to manipulate your experience it is a big movie premiere.
