I've had a lot of jobs.

First job - Baskin Robbins. Which led to various and sundry retail management (clothing stores, record stores).

Non Existant Gold Bullion company receptionist

Paste-up artist in Visual Design at Mattel Toys

Student

Waitress at 40 Carrots

Special Events Manager (10 years)
Marketing manager for small company which died 2 months after I started
So Cal Marketing manager for very large company

Pet Sitter
Marketing consultant for Pet Sitting company and small business owner.

The best stories come from pet sitting. I wish I enjoyed writing.

Hey, I know him! Which, of course, brings to mind my stint as "Bottom rung in pyramid scheme insurance agency for asshole."

D'oh. I left off the one people seem to consider most interesting:

Quality Assurance Technician at a Kodiak, Alaska, salmon cannery.

Oh yeah, I forgot my foray into the bottom rung of a pyramid scheme health and nutrition company filled with assholes.

Of course, I got most of my money back the first time around, and apparently someone who lost more and his lawyer friend let me hitch a ride to recover most of the rest of what I as owed. Which was surprising. Most class-action suits never seem to get as much back as was lost due to lawyer fees, etc... Whatever.

I forgot, I also did time working for a movie theatre that showed only old movies (natch). How could I forget that? Ben-Hur 7 days in a row......

Strangler Lewis 06-20-2007 10:58 AM

I forgot my one paid gig as an actor in Berkeley.

Also my brief stint going door to sell tickets and raise funds for a local track meet to benefit Olympic hopefuls that apparently was not going to occur. I knew I didn't have to go back to work the next day when I watched the place being busted on the local news.

I might as well complete my short list.

Cat sitting/lawn mowing for out of town neighbors (highly lucrative)
Babysitting
Computer lab admin at a high school (actual job, not as a student)
Testing at small independent computer cert company
The pap thing
Assistant systems admin for an insurance broker
Test engineer for world wide computing services company
The insurance thing
Test engineer for large-in-our-niche server hardware manufacturer (current)

I worked 1 day for Arthur Treachers Fish & Chips

Assembled medical kits for kidney patients - Where I learned how to shoot hypodermic needles using a syringe as a blow gun (I hope my Kidneys never give out)

Food service jobs at Knott's including bussing at the Chicken Dinner Restaurant, Scooping ice cream, and my favorite - running the popcorn cart.

Phone Solicitor for a shady timeshare (my worst job ever)

Various "Records Management" related jobs which have included consulting, supervising a warehouse operation and an electronic imaging operation, project managment - but more interestingly it allows me to claim to work in a nuclear power plant, have had an FBI background check, and get periodic letters from the NRC detailing my radiation exposure history.

Volunteerwise - I mostly have done stuff for arts organizations, including being a founding member of a political action committee for defending public funding of the arts (NEA 4, et. al.)
