Plus, the plans are wayyy too expensive. 60 bucks for 450 minutes and 200 text messages? No thanks!

Does that price include internet access? Is there a limit on the amount of internet time? (I know I could look it up, but I have 400 messages to wade through.)

I've heard of poor call quality with other PDAs as well. That's not jut the iPhone. I would consider the iPhone in the PDA category.

I have a T-Mobile MDA (a smart phone). My wife has a T-Mobile Razr. We can be standing next to each other where she will have service and I won't.

I'm not to thrilled with not being able to have my custom ring tones tho...that is kind of important to me.

Is that common in the PDA/smart phone category? My above mentioned MDA also cannot have custom ring tones.

My main reason I won't even consider the iPhone is the carrier. I *hate* Cingular.

Oh, and because my Motorola Q is fabulous and a couple hundred bucks cheaper. I can even post on Lot from my phone :)

While I think it's very pretty, I can neither justify the cost, nor would I use most of the non-phone functions. Heck, on my present phone, I barely use a percentage of what it is capable of doing. All I want is a phone that works, gets a decent signal and I keep the battery charged in case there is a problem on the road and I need to call for service.

That said, it sure is pretty, as BTD would say, shiny!

Another "really, really cool except for the phone part of it sucking" article. The guy essentially has to keep his Verizon service so that he can make calls while at home in Washington, D.C.

^^ Haha that article is fantastic :)

And I, like Goonie, will never get an iphone if it is only on AT&T/Cingular.

After having to get the government involved to get them to stop harassing me (over a 2+ year period, multiple letters, phone calls, and threats of legal action) there is no f'ing way I'm ever going to give that horrid company my money.

Yeah..it's unlimited data usage.

My Pearl actually has really good reception...I can just be about anywhere and have 4-5 bars and can do custom ringtones.

My T-mobile wave is a descendant from your MDA (same plugs i believe) and it gets reception when the sidekick 3 doesn't, and i can have custom ring tones, imagine that, a t-mobile smart phone with custom ring tones.

I like my Verizon- I would even if Eric didn't work for them. Great coverage, reasonable plan and more features than I know what to do with. I have internet access, video and photo, GSL, Chaperone, etc. Their Navigator is great- can tell where you are at within feet, and the maps are very clear and easy to read. I just can't see what IPhone can offer to beat that, especially at the price they charge.

Argh, still 6 months until our contract is up and we can get a deal on a new phone...
