I am now obsessing about Fois Gras

blueerica 07-15-2007 10:32 AM

I was watching Iron Chef America last night and they did a foie gras with Kobe beef. Mmmm..

I miss the ability to eat endless amounts of candy.

Those cherry pies from McDonald's were awesome, as long as you let let the lava inside cool down a couple hundred degrees beforehand.

I'm probably the only person who remembers these but Carl's Jr. used to have something called a California Roast Beef sandwich. It was roast beef, swiss cheese, and an ortega chili on (I believe) an onion roll. They were to die for and I have emulated them many times since then.

Also, I probably wouldn't eat one today but I just did some research on Libbyland TV dinners and it sure brought back a lot of memories. They were geared towards kids with names like "Safari Supper," "Sundown Supper" and "Pirate Picnic" and I remember adoring these when I was a tyke. They were only around for about five or six years in the 70s.

they'd probably make me ill now, but I sure loved em as a kid

Talk about a blast from the past!! I remember eating a ton of those. Also had a lot of Tang and Quisp. I miss the Quisp, although I found a package a year or so ago and it was close but not quite.

Were the Ghiradelli flicks the ones in the tube? If so I loved those. I haven't thought of those in ages!

Chilly Gingerbread Men - they were sold around Christmas time. Like ice cream sandwiches, except the outer part was shaped like a gingerbread man and was gingerbread flavor.

oh yeah. drank enough Tang to float a ship around.

as far as Quisp, yeah. Ive seen the latest boxes with the character on it, but somehow, I highly doubt it would be the same. hence Ive not tried it. thanks for saving me the disappointment.

Ever had a really good, fatty piece of bbq'd meat, and there's that lovely fatty edge that's cooked to perfection, where it's no longer rubbery, got that right amount of char, is just on that edge of melting and but still holding together, and just tastes soooo delicious? I've only had fois gras once, but that's what it tasted like to me.

Sorry, ever since I saw thos films showing how they get the Foie Gras, and how they treat the geese, I'll give it a miss, thanks.

.....now If they could bring back the McRib in Australia.....

JWBear 07-15-2007 07:06 PM

Oooooo.... McRib....... :)

Prudence 07-15-2007 09:52 PM

I've tried fois gras a few times, but it's just never been my thing. I don't hate it, I just don't love it.

Caviar, on the other hand....yum! Of course, that could be on the way out, too.
