Up at this end of the world, the (Malibu) Canyon Fire was really scary this morning. Winds were whipping the flames into a frenzy ... and I watched in sadness as a famous castle at the crest of the mountain, where Kelly and I had planned to get married, was engulfed in a firestorm ... and burned to the ground.

Wow, that Irvine fire is really close to where I used to work, right next to the El Toro Marine base off of Irvine Blvd.

Wow, I thought last night was bad, smoke-wise. We were playing in Newport and when we left last night, it was very smoky.

This morning, however, I just looked out my back window and it is much worse. Even this far away from the fire in Dana Point, I can't see any of the hills that surround us and the stench is really thick.

Matthew's dad lives in Poway and apparently the SD fire reached the town overnight. Not good news at all.

Getting really smoky today. I'm in Aliso Viejo, and I can literally smell/feel the smoke coming in through the a/c in the office here.

Fire is now in Foothill Ranch. Here is the view out my front door.

neighbor just came by...they are starting to evacuate the neighborhood.

Oy. I am just up the road at work if you need anything.
