My cubicle (built for 2) has all 6 of us in today. Cozy.
The rest of the floor is pretty vacant, to quote the Pistols. We are closed next week until Jan. 2 and we have a lot of out-of-town contractors who live in various parts of the USA (and some from Canada, eh?) and they took off yesterday. Lots to do here, unforch, and some are working this weekend. |
Looks like we're pretty much at standard attendance today. I'm sure people will start drifting out early, though.
We realized we forgot to account for the cat so we're delaying our departure up north by a day so the cat is only alone four days instead of five. So there's no reason for me to leave early if I don't want to. Normally we have one of Lani's coworkers check in on the cat while we're away (we live literally across the street from her office) but we forgot that they're dark all next week. I sure do miss how we did it growing up when a two-week vacation just meant leaving a back window open and pouring a three gallon bowl of cat food somewhere the raccoons and possums weren't likely to smell it. |
I'm working at home, Matthew is asleep in the next room. Yep, ghost town indeed. :)

Well, there are enough people here today that literally every time I've walked past the break area I've discovered a new plate of cookies. I think I can actually see myself getting fatter in real time at this point.

Homemade fudge is still stacked high in the break room.

You know, if you're going to go away over Christmas and have 3 dogs and 2 cats, wouldn't you book your pet sitter more than one day before you leave? Especially if you've worked for the company previously and know how busy Christmas is?
I'm sorry, but I am already booked. |
Damn GD, I wish we had cookies here, I'm jealous!
Although we do have leftover bite-sized desserty things in the fridge, but they're a week old :/ |
My office has been on half cylinders for a while now. We're going out of business in 10 days.
Heheh, for the first time ever, since they don't care anymore, they're giving us Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve off. Oh, big of them. But I'll take it. Defections have been occurring rather steadily for weeks. So even though we seem surprisingly fully staffed today ... that's half the staff of 2 months ago. Bah, it's ultra depressing being here. |
Pastries in a pile in our office. Now I want chorizo. It's the LoT Effect.
A couple of staff are already on vacation. Next week, though, is where you learn who can afford vacations and who needs to make up lost hours due to closures. Myself, I'll be here on the 24th in the morning to bring in the bookdrop (someone has to do it, and I'd rather do it over Xmas than other holidays), and back at work on the 26th and 27th. The whole month has been dead and I can't wait for the hustle and bustle of January 2nd. |
I'm usually home on Fridays, so today is no exception. I'm taking Monday off, but Wednesday through Friday I'll be back at work.
What sucks about working on a college campus is that over the quarter break, all the services shut down. So when you are there working, there's nowhere to go to relieve the boredom. |
