I learned of the "translation" only a few years ago. There was a fansite about it (web 1.0) that I can't find now, and wikipedia doesn't have much detail. I fuzzily remember that the site claimed the Ewok words were written first, and the English made up later, during filming.

As far as I can remember, we only ever sang that and the vocal score from HMS Pinafore. And never sang anything else. </bait>
