Well, the straight line would be through Portland, but if you're looking for more interesting routes I'd head east from Vancouver (on 3), cross into the United States at the border with Idaho (using 21 to connect to US 95), head south through Idaho on 95, cutting over to Spokane then taking 95 south the rest of the way.
The only problem being this puts you on the east side of Yosemite and the roads may not be open enough yet to get over to Yosemite, but there are other routes around. I've done most of that drive and it is far superior just taking 90 out to Spokane and then 5 down to California. Plus, on the east from Vancouver part you'll go through a little town where they filmed the first Rambo movie and during the summer the local theater plays it every weekend. |
Since I can't commit to camping or DLR, I would love to take a tour of Hearst with you!!!

I'm already plotting potential places to show the Lashes- I'll make up a list with links or pics and send them your way, Bear and Stoat. We have another LoT'er in nearby Couer D'Alene ,Idaho, so that will definitely be on the PNW Swanking list. (It's a very hip resort town about 1/2 an hour from here). |

The only problem with the driving route suggested is that it would take them very far out of the way from their next stop after Spokane! I didn't think to ask if they were flying or driving from Spokane, not that it matters because for the LP I'd drive to SFO in a nanosecond (or any other airport in the bay area they choose to descend upon)!

Lashpair, are you planning on spending any time in SF Bay Area? If not, I will have to make the Hearst Castle Tour with you! It's been eons for me and it's on my list of California spots I want to revisit, soon.

Wow! We rated a LashPair visit!
