And if it's likely we'd do Cabin Swank and Swank Camp in one year, may I ask where this year's Swank Camp is?
Uh-huh. Thought so. ;) |
I prefer one large event to two smaller ones.
That said - it's next to impossible to get me motivated to plan something this far in advance. With Coachella and MA that time of year I don't want to commit to anything until dates are solid. |
I think Snowflake was merely funnin'. Or at least I hope so.
Ya know, 27 Lash Planning threads and all. :) That said, I don't ever want to do Yosemite during official "winter" again. Too many good trails are closed. Those open can be treacherous. I would never have missed the Ice Steps of Death Adventure, but I've no desire to repeat it. |

Well, I've been trying to plan a trip to McArthur-Burney Falls this year. I was hoping to do it earlier (like June-ish) but based on availability, I'm currently considering the weekend of September 11th.
I'd already planned to invite a few people to join me, so I'm perfectly cool with opening that up as a full on Swank Camp. Still, at that, it should get its own thread and not interfere with the cabin plans. |
People camp in Hawai'i.
Just saying. :) |

Is there beach camping in Hawaii? Volcano camping perhaps? Or is it all tropical jungle camping? How boring.
- - - Before we embark on a full-out snarkfest, let me assert without any sarcasm whatsoever ... that I believe Cabin Swank and Swank Camp within the same season of prime Spring are mutually exclusive, as a practical matter. And that's fine. I'm sure I'm not the only one who found cabin prep a welcome relief of workload from camp prep ... and that cabin work was plenty enuf, thanks. Camping has certain pros and cons, cabin life likewise. I was simply suggesting we alternate ... because it's highly unlikely both will happen in a single season. I'm also suggesting we needn't decide now. Donna's exhuberance is understandable, considering the circumstances. But I think planning next year's wilderness adventure is a tad premature. |

I think we should go to Bryce Canyon, which has potential for both rustic cabin and actual camping.
