Very sorry for your coon problems. However, since it's happening to you, not me, I am (nonetheless) highly amused. ;)

Kudos for the wonderful storytelling.

The whole "event" was funny, having raccoons (and the threat of potential damage to our house) - not so much. Having Chris climb back onto the roof late at night after 2 stiff drinks, also not fun (and by stiff, I'm not talking about his staff).

The story posted by The Woman was a joint effort between Some Guy, The Drunken Seamstress (both of whom were drinking) and myself (who was only typing like I was drunk).

I had three (technically four, but I lost one somewhere) of Chris's drinks, and I was practically on my ass. The sprained ankle and his propensity to serve in martini glasses (which I have a hard time not spilling when sober) made for a wobbly night, but it was so much fun. Thanks to you both- it was really great to see everyone, and I love all your furbabies sooooo much!

Soooo, the rolly polly baby raccoons were in the ceiling again tonight. I think they have probably been up there for a while unable to get down since we trimmed the tree. So, we're going to help them get down.

THIS time there ARE three. We have devised an ingenious system of propping the baby gate up in the tree to the roof so they can climb down and get the tasty treat of cat food and tuna I have left in a bowl on the porch.

Oh, the baby gate just crashed. I think one is down!

As soon as we get all three down, Dick Van Dyke is going to get on the roof and put an ugly pipe fastener/holder/joiner/whateveritscalled with some pet-proof screen and some wire mesh over it.

Then we pray.

Lovin' it !!! :snap:

Let me know how Dyke Van Dick goes.

According to tweets, Some Guy pulled out all the stops (or rather, put a stop in the vent) and the defenses are holding, holding, holding....

Not Afraid 08-11-2009 10:10 AM

Holding for now. I think between tree trimming and the new, improved vent device it should hold. Or maybe we'll have a sequel. Hey, Hollywood does it all of the time, why can't we?

What a wonderfully fun read!! I was engrossed, it was titillating!

I am sorry you are having issues but, this is really fun to read about!

Since when did That Guy become Some Guy? Did he lose or gain status with the change? ;)

When you said Dick Van Dyke, I just thought of the silly antics from the show. I totally forgot about Mary Poppins!!! Excellent!!!

Direct to DVD and then we alert Disney to build a MSEP float to promote it. ;)

Bravo. I give this show 2 thumbs up!

So this morning, while making coffee, I watched two raccoons climb down off the roof. Unlike the others, a third was to timid to make the leap to the newly trimmed tree and was stuck on our roof a bit. He hid in a drain spout for awhile, but we think he eventually climbed down a ladder we fashioned from a baby gate. Looks like the Attic was not breached, though signs of an attempt were made and I'll have to reinforce with additional duct tape tonight. This tim though I did manage to get a pic of the little tyke on the roof:
