Our 2 doggies are remarkably similar to yours. A little appleheaded black and white one and a longer nosed reddish brown one. They even have the same ears with Rocky having floppy ears and Mousey with the big ones.

Am I the only one who thinks this is sad? The dog seems mentally ill, or at least, is causing himself lots of awful undue anxiety. Poor thing :(

Some dogs have such high food aggression/protectiveness that anything they see out of the corner of their eye will set them off: a piece of paper rustling, wind blowing, etc.. I think it's more like the "what the hell is that?!" aspect that I would liken to a cat chasing its tail...

I do have to say that on further viewing, it kind of looks like maybe they are manipulating his leg with a string or something which puts me on the fence: he's not hurting himself, he appears well taken care of, it seems to be all in good fun (not mention that it is pretty damn funny), he got a yummy bone out of it (which in itself would probably make it worth it for most dogs) and is it really any worse than something like giving a cat catnip and laughing when they go nuts...but still.

What the dog is doing is called Resource Guarding and it is in no way based in logic (and really hard to train out of this bad habit). Kimchi thinks Scoundrel wants her Bully Stick on occasion. Scoundrel has never even show and interest in a bully stick but she still get all defensive when Scoundrel get near.

Even if it's natural it's still very sad that the poor animal is all stressed out.

The kitten was a drive-by disposal in the parking lot of the ER vet I was at (and happened to be in said parking lot). He's 5 weeks old and as sweet as can be. He's a black smoke (dark dark tabby with white undercoat). I'm going to care for him until he is old enough to be neutered then work with adoption to find him a home. His name - at the moment - is Salem.

And, his home - at the moment (and in the future, who is she kidding) - is NA's House. ;)

If I didn't live 3000 miles away, I'd be pretty tempted.

I am very tempted and I'm only 400+ miles away.....

I love the name Salem! That's amazing. I wish I could have another kitty. My black kitty, Figaro, died last year. :(

The dolphin pic in question actually does have a tinge of sadness. "Nipper" was two weeks old when he was found on a beach. He had marks from what seems to be net entanglement. His mother was nowhere to be found.

He's fine and will be nursed until he can be freed. Cute, but sad. :(

All cats purr - even the big ones. We watched to baby jaguars at the zoo for quite a while. They sniffed smelly things, did the "fleming" open mouth thing, and purred like you wouldn't believe as they groomed each other.

My new (and awesome) apartment is a bit older, and has those spring type doorstops. My cat Tsunami has discovered them, and seems to enjoy thwapping 'em, either just for the fun of it or to wake me up at unreasonably hours of the morning.

Well, after more inquiry, he's very cute, but dwarf hamsters are also highly territorial and known to bite often, and get much worse if you don't constantly hold them. So, he's not the best option for our home.

There was a black and white large Dutch bunny running about our neighborhood yesterday. It's being fostered by a neighbor who is trying to fine a permanent house bunny situation for him. I guess she is quite the escape artist. I joined in the attempt to catch her and she disappeared - like magic.
