Oh man. This one hurts.

Will Koch - Owner of Holiday World

He was one of the brightest lights of the amusement industry, as well as an all around excellent guy.

:( doesn't quite express it.

Garry "Starchild" Shider, longtime guitarist and musical director for George Clinton and Parliament/Funkadelic.

Garry was a wonderful guy and talented musician. We were lucky enough to get him to record a few guitar and vocal tracks on our new Naked Funk CD a few months ago. The stuff he added was truly magical. Thanks for everything Garry, it was a pleasure to get to know you and work with you.

As a kid, I had two big fights with my parents about movies they wouldn't let me see. One was Steve McQueen's "The Getway," which, in retrospect, I can sort of understand. The other was "The Poseidon Adventure," which came out when I was 10 and which Ronald Neame directed. I remember my father said he thought there was too much human suffering involved. Given some of the other things he took me to when I was young--"Butch Cassidy," "Judge Roy Bean," "Three Days of the Condor," "Cabaret," "Great Gatsby," "The Seven Ups," etc.--I found this an odd line in the sand.

Anyway, RIP Ronald Neame.

Manute Bol, a lithe 7-foot-7 shot-blocker from Sudan who spent 10 seasons in the NBA and was dedicated to humanitarian work in Africa, died Saturday. He was 47.

I believe he is (was) the only player in NBA history with more blocked shots than points.
