I've let the LoT be my only MJ input. So not overloaded in the least.

Oh, except that two of my friends el jayed about it. Including Bryan, who dressed as Captain EO for last Halloween. I did not realize it was the culmination of a several week MJ mania on his part.

DJ spun a bit of Jackson Five and Michael Jackson at the cemetery screening tonight. The MJ tune just before showtime got EVERYONE up and dancing. It was touching and awesome.

But Ghoulish Delight was right .... we were in a cemetery, so how could you NOT play Thriller???

WTF universe?

Billy Mays died.

Ghoulish Delight 06-28-2009 09:57 AM

Wow. Just, wow.

And to make Mays' death a little weirder, it turns out that yesterday he was on a plane which blew out its front tire on landing. No injuries reported, but if it turns out Mays dies of a heart attack or something similar, you have to wonder if someone the stress from that combined with his usual high-strung state had anything to do with it.

His son's twitter stream.

The marvels of our modern age. Getting to participate directly in the grief of people we don't actually know.

Or care about?

Interesting. After the hard landing, Mays said that stuff fell and hit him on the head. Wonder if that had anything to do with it.

It's weird. We've been watching Pitchmen so I suddenly have been seeing Billy Mays oin TV a lot, as well as his son. Had this happened before a few months ago I would have hardly taken notice, but now it seems I oddly care a bit more.

That's how I feel too.

I do wonder if he had a concussion from the stuff that hit him.

I'm sure he was a lovely man, and from what I understand, in real life he sounded nothing like the pitchman for the infomercials. Nothing ever made me hit the mute faster than the voice that was silenced today. I feel for his family, but I also feel a sense of relief.

I'm sure the autopsy will check for head trauma as well as DVT, which can be caused by microscopic seat-pitch on commercial airlines. I can't help but wonder why he was flying commercial anyway, since (according to a recent "Pitchmen" episode) he and Sullivan had just bought a private jet.

Same here. I watched the first episode because when I saw the preview spot I was amazed that anyone would do a show about these guys, but was almost immediately hooked. Mays and Sullivan actually seem to be good guys who do their job well and believe in the products they sell. Whether or not I would actually buy anything they pitch, I respect it.
