I'm about to go out the door for an errand a few blocks away. I threw on some shorts and a t-shirt, my sandals, grabbed my sunglasses and my iPod, prepared for a nice little 10 minutes walk.

Then I opened the door to look outside for the first time today. That is NOT the weather I expected.

I'll trade you weather, GD. It is hot and muggy here.

I hate the June gloom but I did get a bike ride this morning.

I rode my bike today also. Twice. My poor bike had been neglected for a long time, but my neighbor tuned it all up last week and we have been riding a lot. Fun. I think we look silly. I can't describe the hair and clothes, but my neighbor is a nice person so I reckon it doesn't matter too much what we look like.

Same. It has been gross around here lately. Hot is not my thing.

Tomorrow at this time my 15 year old will be at the hospital prepping for knee surgery. It was originally to be June 5th, but a conflict got us moved to (thankfully) earlier. As a freshman she was the starting point guard on her high school JV team, and she loses her summer season, so she's a bit stressed about her prospects for making varsity next year. I keep telling her that she played all last season in pain, so missing summer ball will be ok because she'll have 2-3 months to sharpen her skills prior to her sophomore season.

Pretty minor as far as knee surgeries go (best case scenario she's 100% in 6 weeks, worst case 3 months), but please send some positive thoughts her way for a successful surgery, quick recovery, good rehab, and a pain free sophomore season (and maybe a spot on the varsity team, too).

We've got all our tickets and reservations for Orlando, and now Super Shuttle to/from airport.

I can't believe it's really happening...
