De deum De dum, Pink Elephants on Parade.......

This is a dangerous thread. Now I have Pink Elephants duking it out with Dancing Hamsters while Lock Stock and Barrel sing laaa la la lalala and Richard Gere manipulates a Renee Zellweger dummy to the tune of Belleville Rendezvous.

Before I opened this thread, however, it was "Every time We Say Goodbye," mostly because that song figured in a play I saw Friday night. (The play is called Sylvia, a comedy about a married couple and their dog. Sarah Jessica Parker played the dog in the original production. I saw a really excellent cast here in Orlando.)

Here's a tune that tends to stay with me - the theme to Casino Royale.

Well, thanks to the poster above and Sleepyjeff, I've got the theme song to Gilligan's Island going around my tiny little mind.

Today, I have randomness coming from a CD mix I made a long time ago. They're all songs about loss, regaining, and figuring things out in general. But also, and should I say mostly, about love. But it's like I have the whole CD in my head.

Most noticeably, I have Pete Yorn's "For Nancy ('Cos it Already Is)"

Don't sell your heart and break just anyone
I want to run with you through moorland fields
Convince yourself that everything is alright
'Cos it already is

That song just makes me want to sing the lyrics as loudly as possible just about everytime I hear it. It's like I hurt for the situation he's in.

And -- Elliot Smith's "Somebody That I Used to Know" -- Not because I"m feeling any particular way, but because it's just another powerful song that makes me think I'm feeling a particular way.

I had tender feelings that you made hard
But it's your heart, not mine, that's scarred
So when i go home, i'll be happy to go
You're just somebody that i used to know

A mark of a good song, to me, is one that can completely erase what I'm feeling now, and replace it with the feeling behind the song.

Too Darn Hot. Although frankly it's freezing.

A.C. Newman songs. They're in my head.

The sun is a mass of incandescent gas
A giant nuclear furnace.
Where hydrogen is buit into heium
At a temperature of millions of degrees

If you're referring to the awesome cover version of the song (as opposed to the original from 1959), then you're going to dig the next MousePod.

...to say more would be telling.

Might it have anything to do with "Here Come the ABCs"?
