OMG. I have only two words for Ghostland Observatory. Must own.

Following in the steps of Soft Cell, Pet Shop Boys, Deja Voodoo, Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine... something about electro-pop duos make me happy (OK, maybe not so much Deja Voodoo... but they were fun, weren't they?).

All credit goes to NPR and SXSW. G.O. is an Austin local band and NPR's All Songs Considered played a clip from their set at South By South West and I was hooked. I like this quote from their MySpace bio. "Ghostland Observatory is not a band, but an agreement between two friends to create something that not only heals their beat-driven hearts, but pleases their rock ‘n roll souls."

OK, MP, help me out here.....who do they sound like? It's someone I know and it's not anyone you mentioned. The vocals are especially familiar but I can't place it.

Wire is fantastic! I think we may spring for 154 and Chairs Missing on CD very soon. Only having Pink Flag on CD is just not enough and the vinyl is too inaccessable.

The Wire Peel Sessions CD is also indispensable as far as the early (phase I) Wire stuff goes...

I don't have a lot of Peel Session stuff. I should, but I don't. I'm not sure I even have The Fall Peel Sessions, which is really something I SHOULD have.

We ordered both of Ghostland's CDs last night. Squee.

So, I've just discovered Charlotte Gainsbourg.

And, apparently she is on Air's Pocket Symphony in the song "The Duelist".

And she's the daughter of Serge.

And...

And... I need to find her album. Need.
