Oh my goodness, what a crazy day! Rest day tomorrow, and I think there are a lot of riders who will be thankful for it.

We just woke up from a nao to watch today's stage. We turned it on in time to see Michael Rogers pulling himself off the side of the road. I'm actually glad I missed the crash (if it was even captured on film). I hate descents. They make my toes curl.

They didn't get the crash on film, just the result: Rogers getting up from off of the ground and Arroyo climbing up from out of the ravine next to the road.

A lot of guys abandoned today; big names. I feel bad for Michael Rogers- he was doing so well, and one crash kills it for him. The crash didn't look all that bad, but he couldn't use the wrist. He tried, but it just wasn't going to work.

Waiting to see how it ends...

And Stuart O'Grady being cardet off in an ambulance with a neck brace on. Terrible day!

alphabassettgrrl 07-16-2007 04:21 PM

I saw that. The guy at my bike shop says O'Grady is very messed up- several things broken, including collarbone and ribs.

He speculates Michael Rogers has a broken wrist. I felt bad for Rogers because as he abandons the race, tears running down his face, people on the sides are shooting pictures. Leave him alone, y'know? Bad enough that the tv cameras are on him. Bike shop guy said Rogers hit the railing with his head, and that the crash was pretty bad. I didn't see that footage, so what Versus showed yesterday didn't look all that bad.

Tonight Floyd Landis is in Thousand Oaks speaking and signing copies of his book, "Positively False". :) We're going.

Slightly off-topic, but last night we tuned in to the "Tour de France" channel while we surfed comcast looking for something interesting. They were showing a countdown of the worst bull riding accidents of this rodeo season. I wish I could say we didn't watch the whole thing...

Did everyone see the dog get hit by the T Mobile rider? Here's a slideshow of images. Craziness!

alphabassettgrrl 07-19-2007 09:08 AM

I saw that! The dog's fine though. It got hit in the shoulder, which is a pretty meaty area. Bent the rider's wheel something fierce though!

I thought the fans were bad!
