I'm the girl who spends a gazillion dollars trying to win fish at the carnival in order to "save them" from being neglected prizes. I finally won Bubbles (that was her name) when I was in my mid-to late twenties. I went directly to Petco and bought everything under the sun to make Bubbles happy! Less then a week later, I woke my boyfriend up, shrieking that Bubbles wasn't moving. He got out of bed, all irritated, snapping at me and flushing Bubbles. :( Later that day, when I came home from work, he surprised me with a beautiful big fishbowl. Inside, swimming, was a beautiful Betta fish. I named him "Digi" (we both worked in post-production, and a digi-beta is a commonly used type of tape format). Heehee..get it? Digi-beta? He felt bad for getting upset with me in his 1/2 slumber and the fact my little Bubbles passed away. That was so thoughtful & sweet of him. I had Digi for a little over a year before he passed away (not that long after, my boyfriend passed away, too.) I cried as I said a little prayer before I flushed him down the toilet (the fish, not my boyfriend. We buried him, for goodness sake! We're not savages.) That would make me the world's dumbest blonde and polak if I buried my fish and flushed my boyfriend down the toilet. Golly, give me some credit. Now, I'm sitting here laughing hysterically! I'm also smiling up above as I wink toward the sky, Heavenward. I never thought I'd reach that point. Boy, I really wish we could laugh in person together as friends. :) |
We had a puffer fish who was a charmer, a mini-Shamu he would leap out of the tank for a tasty krill treat. He was also quite adept at shooting a stream of water to knock the krill out of your hand. The other fish were pretty, but Puffer had talent.
