Here as well. Our school principal, in an effort to discourage overly violent or sexy costumes, sent around a memo encouraging the kids to dress as figures from history or literature. Our daughter has settled on Edith Wilson. Our son is harder to pin down. First it was Wallace Stevens. Then we thought he'd decided on Joseph Welch but now his two best friends are going as Dean Acheson. He's going to have to make up his mind soon, so we can get our order in.

historical figures... less violent?

There goes that Jesus-on-the-cross costume...

I won't post out of respect for my fellow LoTers. But if your curiosity is just killing you, I will provide a link. But don't say I didn't warn you.

Not for the faint of heart or those at work.

Lol! Not bad, Kevy! Though, you should have shaved your legs. ;)

I was thinking of going as a Gothic school girl., but, alas, my skirt is way to short. Someone washed it then stuck it in the dryer. Now it comes up to my butt.

And it was my favorite skirt! :(

Oh well, now I'm going as a vampire. That should be fun and hopefully next year I'll be the Gothic school girl.

They did that for awhile around here as a way to make it okay to celebrate Halloween without them religious folks getting their panties in a twist. It was just an excuse on paper though - everyone seemed to dress up however they wanted anyway.

Even that could cause problems if the kids are creative enough (and I am sure kids will find creative ways to mess with faculty at school [although I never did ;) ]).

For example, girls could go as Lady Godiva as she took her protest ride. Boys could go as Cohen the Barbarian.

Character in the Terry Pratchett series of books. Very funny character.

Basically, he is a spoof of a heroes - what they would be like if they survived and got old.
