That's all folks!! |
Okay, I went. Here's what happened:
I was up really late Friday night and forgot to set my alarm for the next morning. Fortunately, I woke up on my own (w/out an alarm) pretty much on time. However, I wound up leaving my place about 10 minutes after I had hoped to depart (10:10am rather than 10:00am). Traffic on the 405 was crappy. Traffic on the 105, 710, 91, and 5 (that's the route I take) was pretty good though and I exited onto Disneyland Drive around 10:45am. Most of the lines (including the one I was in) to get into Mickey & Friends were horribly long, stretching almost all the way back to the back of the structure itself. Conveniently, I was able to "sneak" over a few lanes into a much shorter line and only had to wait for a few cars to pass through the toll booth. So far, so good. I had about 10 minutes to park and get on a tram and still be in NOS by 11:00am. I knew I was going to be a little late, but figured I'd be okay. Unfortunately, the line to get from the booth to an actual parking slot took quite a long time. It took over 10 minutes just to drive up the ramp and circle around into an actual parking spot. And, of course, I was in the row farthest from the escalators/trams! The lines to get on a tram were delightfully short (for a Saturday) and I got on after waiting for only one tram. I passed through "security" (i.e., "hide" your weapons in your pockets) quickly and then saw the lines to get into the park stretched three quarters across the esplanade! But I used my secret passholder insider info and got in the line that actually feeds into two gates, thus cutting my wait time in half compared to the folks in other lines. I actually entered the park around 11:25am. Obviously late, I hoped the reputation of tardiness attributed to SoCal homos would be in affect and there would still be some guys in NOS. But when I arrived there around 11:30am, I saw no red-shirts at all in front of Pirates. I hung around for about 10 minutes then admitted to myself that I had missed my opportunity. :( I went on Buzz for the first time. I scored 136,200 (Level 4) initially and then 314,000 (Level 5) when I tried it later in the day. I took in a few other rides, had lunch at Carnation, headed over to Tower of Terror, and then went home. I can't say that I had a bad time, but it would have bene nice to share the day with someone else. |
Ok, well consider that a practice run for the real event in October.
