I meant to post this months ago but here finally are two performances from the Camp Hollywood Jitterbug Championships back in August. I wasn't at Camp Hollywood but I did get to see both groups do practice performances a few weeks ahead of time.
This is the first place performance, the One2Swing Jitterbugs. The music in the first half is "All the Cats Join In" and the choreography pays homage to the Disney cartoon. This is the second place performance, the One2Swing California Rolls. Each group has the same choreographers (Ben and Sheri Yau, thus the One2Swing in each name) and I think the choreography for this one is amazing. It's original and fits the music so well. |

All 7 parts of this are worth watching. Star Wars: The Phantom Menace Review Watch these before Lucas has them pulled. It's pretty hysterical and oh so true. Watching this did remind me of the rather amazing "behind the scenes" doc on the Phantom Menace DVD, from which several clips were presented. One that he briefly shows but does not mention anything about - Lucas is seen auditioning a few boys for the part of Anakin, and it's finally down to two, Jake Lloyd and another young man who is noticeably much, much better. We see the historic moment when George makes his unfortunate casting decision, and, as I recall, someone, possibly Rick Berman, asks him is he's sure, and he sort of hesitates and then says, basically, "I've got a good feeling about this kid." Ay-yi-yi.
The YouTube video does present what was by far the most fascinating moment of the documentary, in which we see Lucas and Co. after screening a rough cut, and it's clear that even George recognizes that the movie is less than great. He immediately begins to talk himself out of trying to fix it and makes with the justifications, but it's obvious that he's aware of at least some of the many many flaws, and so is his creative team. This doc was far more interesting than the film itself. |

Full disclosure - I never rented or bought the thing because I saw it in the theater 6 times. I'm a bit ashamed to admit it was due to the saber duels and podrace, and that I was really stoked to have a new SW film. The Empire already has my money... I still love the saber duels even though I totally grok what the review said about them being pointless, especially in comparison to the OT duels. In my defense, I didn't even enjoy the duels in the 2nd and 3rd episodes... |

Not for the squeamish: video of a guy who got his arm stuck in a printing press. I will say that, despite what you see in this video, this guy was very lucky. Usually in an incident like this, one loses either his arm or his life. Recently, here in the LA area, in a similar incident (on a more modern and much faster press), a press operator got his arm stuck in a press in a similar fashion and Spoiler:
I actually got my hand stuck in a press (albeit, a much smaller one) 25+ years ago. Thankfully, my hand was enough to seize the press, but it did split the skin on my hand and break a finger. The guy who pulled me out of the press had actually lost a finger to the same machine a couple of years before my accident. When he went to hand-turn the press to pull me out, he accidentally turned the wheel the wrong direction and started to pull me in further. Needless to say, he didn't get very far :D |

Be sure to keep watching at least until the 1:40 mark. You may want to turn your sound down a bit, the audio is quite loud. |

Here's an ad for Action Park, in Vernon, New Jersey.
Also known as "Traction Park", "Class Action Park" or "Accident Park". The comments after the video do a great job of conveying what this place was REALLY like. |

Oscar winner Marion Cotillard introduces a new product to help women be taken more seriously in the workplace.
Not really work safe. I think it's borderline, but I know it'll cross it for many folk. |

Damnit, I can't find a video online of the SNL sketch with the alien women with eyes where their breasts would be.

The sketch was called "Their Eyes Were On Their Breasts!". Kirstie Alley. |

Youtube blows past 1080p HD with 4K videos...
If you have a fast Internet connection, or a lot of patience: Take a look at this. I'll have to try this at home, here at work I'm not seeing much difference between 1080 and 4k Edited to add: Doh! Never mind. Full resolution is 4096 x 3072. That's just a tad above what my monitor/graphics card can pump out. |
My sister has 3 cats and a couple turtles. These videos pretty much sum up the Turtle/Cat relations.

This is the kind of thing the internet was made for - A Tortoise Dancing to Satisfaction.
There's also the original video for the song - probably not safe for work, but full of wonderful eye candy. |
