I know, I know. There's an online "common application" system. That's where the meme questions come in. In addition, each school has a big question.
So, related story: Yesterday, my kid had an interview with Swarthmore. For this area of the country, they were doing them in the café part of a Borders in Madison, WI. Hubbo and I had a quick cup of coffee, then hightailed it to another part of the store to get out of the way, leaving our kid to wait for the interviewer.
Maybe half an hour later, a guy comes up to us. "I just wanted to meet you," he says. "I saw you with your daughter in the coffee area and I overheard part of her interview after you left. So, I wanted to meet you."
Uh oh is what Tom and I were both thinking.
"What a childhood she has had!" this guy says. He goes on to list the various things we've done during our summers, which he has overheard her talking about during the interview. "Great job, guys. Great job!"
It wasn't creepy. It was great. When you have cranky, know-it-all teenagers, it's very nice to be validated once in a while. And stan4d_steph shares in the props as she's guided us to both Teton Science School and Woods' Hole oceanographic stuff.
Who knows where she'll get in/end up going to school. It's nice to know that maybe we didn't totally blow it.
