It's a thing of his with rice-based dishes. Risotto, Congee, Paella, and (not so much) fried rice. Fried rice is ok, but not preferred. All others are anathema to him.

I myself don't care for Paella, as I think shells in food are not good. Make a Paella with the seafood flesh only, however, and I would love it.
