Yeah, eff the shoes, Mattel actually said "we're working on the hoverboard" when the film came out.

Though I do know a certain someone who will most probably end up with a pair. Wearing them will be pure nirvana.

Wow. The shoes are just props. They don't lace themselves and they cannot be worn as shoes. Fail.

I think that's just a reference to the date in the film and not a real intent to deliver on Nike's part.
