After Nellie Olsen was written out of "Little House on the Prairie", the show started seriously sucking. Just saying.

So, over the last couple days, we've decided to browse the kill shelters. No, we're not over Nala (there just will never be a replacement), but wanted to see if there were any connections.

There were a few "aw, that's cute" moments, up until we visited the shelter in Downey this afternoon and this ginormous brown tabby cat caught our eye for some strange reason. The attendant opened his cage to let me pet him. I went to pick him up, and he jumped right into my arms, extended both front paws up and around my neck, and then decided to lick my right ear for at least 5 minutes, purring the entire time. I couldn't even pull him away, he had that tight of a hold on me - a very powerful and strong embrace. I instantly thought of that cool video of the lion who saw it's original owners for the first time since its wild release. The attendant was even wowed by it.

We're going to be mulling it over all day tomorrow while the place is closed for the holiday. It amazes me that someone so loving would end up in a shelter, and I just can't stand the thought of leaving him there to die. I've never had a cat hug me like that. Ever.

The only thing is... he's HUGE. I think he's even bigger than NA and Euro's Charles. Judging by what it took to hold him, he's gotta be 25 pounds, possibly more, and it's not all fat.

Disneyphile, I say adopt the cat. Just do it. Hooray!
:)

If anyone is interested, Barnes & Noble is having a 50% off sale on their Criterion DVDs. 60% if you're a member. (I finally became a stinking member. It is worth it, I guess.) Not sure if it includes Blu Ray, I don't think it does...

DP ~ Or he could have been trying to choke you and softening up your ear to consume it... So, if that is the case, run away!
:D

Just do it.

I admire your strength to go to the shelter, let alone a kill one. I can't even go into a pet store without crying and leaving feeling terrible about all the animals left behind.

I say go back and get your boy! So what if he's big, more to snuggle and love. No cat will replace Nala but there's room for a new love to hold and cuddle.

This is a (not very good) official shelter photo of him: click here

And, I can't stop thinking about him. Something tells me I'll be picking him up right after dance class on Thursday.

I'd spend more time with it first.

Clingy love is great for a while. If it turns out the cat requires constant full body contact that may be something that wears out its welcome quickly.

Sounds like you were made for each other. Can't see the pic, but I'm sure he's a beauty!
