So, I'm going to head back to the pound after this morning's class and spend more time with the big boy. If he's still loving and responsive (doesn't have to hug me, but at least be calm and warm), we'll have a new family member. :)

Yay!

I'm thinking "new family member" is going to be joining the DP/FP home!

I tend to read threads from the bottom up. (newest to oldest)

At times that can create an interpretation of events that is somewhat askew.

We rescued the big boy! He'll be coming home tomorrow after being neutered, chipped, and vaccinated. They estimate his age at only about 2 years, so he's a perfect fit for our home. :) He also hugged me again. He really has so much love to give. :) They picked him up as a stray, but suspect he had an owner who just let him roam unfixed, without tags or a chip. So, no one claimed him over the past week, and now he's ours.

Here's the crappy cellphone pic I took of him for now: http://twitpic.com/p9u1i

Anyway, since he's a big ol' boy who likes to hug like a lion, we named him Mufasa. :)

Also, I sadly had to leave behind a really adorable gray tabby kitten who was our second choice. He's about 10 weeks old with a really awesome personality and is very healthy. If anyone here, or acquaintances would like to save an amazing kitty, please do so. He's at the Downey shelter (SEEACA) in kennel C40. I know pounds are very difficult to go into, but this one keeps all of their animals behind numerous closed doors, so you can always go into the front office without hearing or seeing anything. And, all you need is the kennel number to adopt, which I've provided, without having to submit yourself to the horrors of the pound. Adoptions there are very affordable at $60, which includes neuter/spay, microchipping, and vaccinations, which is cheaper than any outside vet. They even give a free 4-lb. bag of Science Diet with 'em. Please consider him - he's quite the lover baby. :) And, remember that every time someone is adopted from a kill shelter, two lives are saved, because it frees up room for another incoming animal without anyone being put down.

He is a beautiful boy! I'm glad he's found a wonderful new home.
