I have a choice between The Modern Adornment or Modern-Adornments.
Will there be a day when the world runs out of URLs? |
And, what's all of this stuff that gets added on to Go Daddy? My $10 registration quickly ballooned up to $100. Do I need all of this other stuff? Do I need to hold every other version of the name with .net, .org etc? I don't think I need an email address since - or do I? And, do I want Private Registration? Am I really going to get slammed with spam without it? (Of course, I'm using my home address, so maybe that one is worth it.)

No, no, private maybe.
Where will you be hosting the actual site? They will provide email addresses with your domain, included in the hosting fee. Don't take godaddy's, it's not necessary. Unless you plan on using godaddy as your host (I wouldn't). |
No, I think I can host somewhere else. I need to look into what my .mac account can get me as well.

You get one free email address with your domain address at Godaddy

Might I recommend lunarpages (which reminds me, I haven't updated the affiliate banner ad in a long long time, and now $5/month gets you unlimited bandwidth and storage on a shared server).
|
The .mac account is really reliable and affordable. That's what I use for both my regular and wedding service sites.

Once you have a domain, Google Apps can use it to host your email (ie lisa@familyjewels.com or whatever) It's free and lets you create up to 50 email addresses.

What about Bob's Web Site Hosting and Laundry Service?
