It was hard but it was the right thing to do. We were both there with her when she went and she looked so peaceful it was a relief. We found her under a bush out front, she wanted to die under the same bush, so we're having her creameated and when we plant roses replacing the bushes, we'll plant a rose in her honor and spread her ashes there.

Poor little grumpy girl. RIP Lyra. We love you. My pillow will be lonely without you at night.

Like iSm said, what a roller-coaster of a thread. I was so relieved that you'd found her, and then plunged right back into sadness at your next post. I'm so sorry you had to do this, but it was far more merciful than letting her suffer and at least she was surrounded by her people at the end, not curled up in some lonely hideaway. She was a lucky and loved girl.
