(You walkers/joggers out there are free to give sugestions. What's comfy and practical for this activity?)

You might want to check out this article at MousePlanet that deals with clothing for marathons. You just want to make sure you get clothing that's comfortable and prevents any chafing. Don't wear cotton socks. Get sport socks without cotton to prevent blisters. In general, it's best to avoid any cotton, since it doesn't wick sweat away from your body.

That's great Drince! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a good Ding! fare soon. :)

That's new.

I wonder how strict they will be. If 13K is about 8 miles, then, at 15 minutes a mile, everyone would have to be done in two hours. (The 6.5 folks have one hour!) Yikes.

Stan4dSteph 04-29-2007 08:39 AM

Well that's a bummer. They should have had that up initially when they opened registration.

Matterhorn Fan 04-29-2007 08:43 AM

Agreed.

Alex 04-29-2007 04:17 PM

It should have been announced when registration opened but unless it is being advertised as a run/walk then 15 minutes/mile is generous (though not quite as general as the marathon).

The pacing requirement has been changed on the website:

That comes out to about an 18 minute mile.

Alex 05-02-2007 07:14 AM

Wow, more generous than the marathon.

OK, now that I can do without hurting myself or putting myself at risk of other medical harm.
