Alex, you absolutely made my night.

Spoiler:
Me, too, kind of. I think that it would set it up for this cast of characters to continue playing a major role. Especially just as I was starting to get into the Nikki/Jessica story arc... makes me wonder what will happen as we go back to "origins." At the same time, this opens the story up for something new and exciting, while keeping a touch of the familiar.

The question, for me, is: Will it become *too* big if they don't return to this story arc? Will it leave people disappointed in a whole new way?

As soon as the final shot was shown, Lani and I simultaneously said Ringu! (The Japanese title of the original version of The Ring).

And Lani was distracted at the moment when Hiro cursed and it was translated as "^&*(" so she can't tell me what, if anything, he really said.

And as soon as Hiro looked up and saw the soldiers on horseback, I turned to Heather and said "Evil Dead II!"

So many great pop culture references that are hidden just enough to not be overt and icky (do you hear me, writers of Shrek?).

Spoiler:
Maybe it was just me, but did the lead horseman at the end look like George Takei?

Lani thought so too so no "all Asians look alike" jokes.

mousepod 05-21-2007 11:43 PM

He sure did to me, Alex.

blueerica 05-22-2007 02:06 AM

Well, Alex... No Asians look alike to me ;)... I wonder what this may hold.

FEJ 05-22-2007 09:26 AM

I will have to go back and look at the end again today.
I was laughing because I was trying to remember where I had seen that type "eclipse" and that was it. (I love Ringu)

Spoiler:
Also we only saw Hiro land in the past. We do not know how long he will stay there.

Other points-repricussions of bomb not going off in city:
*Patrelli campaign?- Did Niki kill Candice (shapeshifter)? Could she become Nathan and continue campaign
*Did Nathan let go of Peter and somehow survive
*Did Peter himself still somehow survive? (highly unlikely, but if his brain didn't rupture, then he could regenerate)
*Where is Sylar? How bad is he hurt? We have seen the cockroach before when we thought he was dead. (The Fix)
*Where was the Hatian this episode?
*Did Linderman/Patrelli have enough power to keep the area surrounding Kirby Plaza free of police/pedestrians?
*How powerful is Kaito Nakamura?
*Was Charles Deveaux (Simones Dad) the one Molly was afraid of trying to locate? He can see the invisible, maybe he has more powers? Could he be part of the Linderman/Petrelli/Nakamura power struggle?
*Did Peter have a flashback or did he unknowingly time travel while unconscious?

I will state one disappointed nitpick with the ending.

Spoiler:
When the explosion happened the rumble from it was heard way too soon. I assume they left the atmosphere but that so much energy was released to still create some noise with the portion that entered the atmosphere.

On Fej's comments (can we jsut spoiler tag this thread so we can stop talking in spoilers?)

Spoiler:
I'm intrigued by the Haitian and disappointed that he faded away in the last segment of episodes. His story line is confusing, he helped get Claire away from being turned back in but then was working for the people who wanted her anyway. If they were really going to kill her why did he save her?

He was also the easiest solution, if available to them, for solving the explosion since all he had to do was stand on that site at the indicated time and no explosion could happen, or even begin.

I was hoping that Sylar and Peter would actually be dead. They tilt the balance too far into the super-superhero camp. Particularly Peter. With Sylar it is at least possible to prevent him from gaining new powers but not so with Peter.

Charles Deveaux was close friends with Mrs. Patrelli who worked with Linderman on the overall plan but apparently that closeness didn't extend to being between Deveaux and Linderman or he could have been healed.

I also really hope that most of the apparent dead stay that way since nothing sucks worse than that kind of trickery and back door gimmicks.

I put the spoiler tag in the title, so it is open game here in the thread.

I think that only works for people he has touched before if I remember. He hasn't got to Peter before, so I don't think it would work.

I do to. Also with Nathan gone it does open up a huge power struggle/story arc they can use. I wonder if Sylar will come back with his powers somehow retarded or misaligned. I was suprised Hiro did not circle around and decapitate him.

That falls into my "power struggle theory. I think Hiro's dad is part of it also.

Same here. Now unless it is revealed that Nathan is like Superman (maybe where Claire got her powers) then he should be dead or severely burned. (he did not seem to melt or clothes burn when he grabbed Peter)

My lead at work brought up an important point also:

Peter can fly...why didn't he just do it himself?
Also, did Sylar full himself to the manhole? or did someone else get him?

I also did a recap/ observation on my blog http://www.fejsez.com A lot of it was put here, but I just rattled away there.
