That had to have been so horrifying, NA. I'm so sorry, for you, Cirque, the kitties....I mean, crapola- what an utterly ****ty day for animals and animal lovers, eh? Yesterday, Tori's good friend Emily (an adorable little sprite of a girl that Tori has known since their Deaf preschool days) got attacked by a dog. Poor Em is terrified of dogs anyway, so this is a major problem on a lot of levels. I've already assured her mom that we will lock our pooches up during Tori's b-day party. (Em's okay, just a bit scratched up).
I don't mean to keep putting my own experiences in this, but I can relate one instance where the cat actually came out ahead: Our Burmese tough guy Yogi was one totally cool, laid back cat. Rarely meowed, and then only once- if he failed to get your attention with that one meow, then you deserved the claw treatment he delivered. Back then we let our cats wander the 'hood, and Yogi loved to prowl in the neighbor's yards. About two blocks from our house there lived a large sheepdog named Bozo, a well-known cat killer. One day I was walking home from school and I saw Yogi meandering through Bozo's yard. Bozo came roaring out like a freight train, but when he got up to Yogi the cat just sort of latched himself onto the dog's face, kicking hard with his back legs and biting for all he was worth. Bozo ran off yelping, and Yogi coolly sauntered away.
