Jubilant Vermont town hits a Homer

A last-minute entry wound up the winner in the competition to host The Simpsons Movie premiere.

Springfield, Vt., beat out 13 other Springfields across the country that entered the Hometown Movie Challenge. Twentieth Century Fox studio asked them to create a video showing their enthusiasm for The Simpsons. Videos were posted on USA TODAY's website, where readers voted for their favorite.

I saw The Simpsons movie this evening at my trusty Glendale Theater. I thought it was great -- like one extra long, better then average, episode. I was surprised by the lack of surprises. Maybe all the tricks were used up on the TV show? Anyway, that is not a crime, especially with a film as funny as this one.

Anybody else see it?

Saw it tonight and thought it was great. The beginning is way too funny. I highly recommend it.

I saw The Simpsons Movie tonight and thought it was good. I wasn't blown away by it, but I liked it.
Loved the animation, loved Homer and really loved Spider Pig. :D

Problem with it was was that they had this film venue where they could have done something wild, shocking and controversial (like they used to) but they didn't.

A couple of swear words, Homer giving the finger and Bart's doodle.
Meh.

I guess they're just leaving the shocking stuff to South Park...

I laughed in places but there were a couple of stretches where not much happened.

No matter how many times I see The Simpsons on tv, DVD and now the movies, I never ever get tired of Homer. He's hysterical.
:)

I (and everyone I went with) felt the same way. It was really cute, but basically like a really long episode. There wasn't anything "extra" except better animation quality. There weren't any lines that anyone was instantly quoting after the movie (except of course for Spiderpig!!).

I totally recommend seeing it though.... there were parts that were totally hysterical!!!
