Oh McRibs....mystery meat or not ...yum...but they aren't really 'gone' they keep reappearing each year for a limited engagement.

I'm not from Portland but there is a Burgerville in the next town, so yes last time I was there they still had them. Right now it's walla walla onion rings but for $7+ for 6 onion rings isn't worth it. I like the fresh shakes and sundaes with seasonal berries. Of course I'm all about the fresh fruit here in Oregon though.

Growing up in Hilmar was hard, everything good was located elsewhere. Whenever my sister had an Honor Band concert in Modesto we would go out to icecream. it was the only way my parents could get me to go. I miss Penguin icecream. They had a sundae called Crop Duster. It was mint icecream with malt powder sprinkled on it. When we moved here there was a Penguin, but it was not the same.

they'd probably make me ill now, but I sure loved em as a kid

I remember liking the peanut butter ones. I'm sure now, I'd not like them so much.

What I miss, is a real, old-fashioned A&W stand. Drive up, park the car, car hop, order your Mama Burger and fresh cut onion rings and a root beer float in a real frosty mug. Man, nothing like it....drool

how can it be possible that I just climbed out of bed, have barely had coffee...and that sounds freakin awesome???

A&W Root Beer has that frosty good taste.

My "treats" as a kid were space food sticks, fiddle faddle, bugles and tang.

I like A&W root beer, but all the restaurants in my area growing up had closed and we never ate there (there was one but it was out of the way and we had Burgerville so why bother). So all I ever knew was the canned version.

So it was quite a shock when I moved to California and had a couple conveniently located on my long drive routes (Vacaville outlet mall; Patterson on way to Disneyland) and I stopped and ordered a large root beer from the tap only to find that it is absolutely vile. Way too much vanilla in it and way too carbonated for my preferences.

So sad for this root beer lover that the only wide scale "on tap" root beer is gross. Fortunately our local beer-couch-and-pizza theater has a good root beer on tap but that is only a twice-a-year destination.

I miss this delicious maple walnut ice cream that we used to get in Nova Scotia at a walk-up ice cream stand that was next to this restaurant that I really miss (it's still there but it's a bit far to go to for dinner). Their DQ carries similar ice cream, but it's still to far to go for ice cream ;)

I also miss that dang 4-flavored candy bar. Miss E is going to bring a few home from UT but they aren't the same brand. Hopefully I can trick my brain though.

Does Fantasia ice cream count in this thread? I miss it.
