It's taken a few years, but I do enjoy myself some gold medal ribbon and winter white chocolate. In the end, ice cream is ice cream, unless it's this amazing chocolate-guiness gelatto I had in SF.

Actually, I disagree. Some are better than others. My recollection on B-R is that they are fairly good, but it has been several years since I have had any. We had a favorite place up in Upland (Bert & Rockies), but I haven't had any of that in a while. It was awesome!

I assume you haven't eaten at Cold Stone? Admittedly, enough good stuff can be added to the ice that it is overall good, but the ice cream itself is amazingly awful.

But yeah, other than that I've never had bad ice cream, just bad flavors of ice cream (falooda being at the top of that list).

I like the Cake Batter straight up (although I have never done it in large quantities).

Some are better than others, I agree. But I've yet to have an ice cream that makes all others seem sucky.

I actually like cold stone, with stuff in it. Also like DQ and McDonalds. I prefer Golden Spoon frozen yogurt over ice cream, but eat any of it so rarely that I'm in the mood for what ever kind of ice cream I'm getting.

Okay, the line was wrapped around the building. I offered the dude in front 32 cents to let me cut, but he said no. :(

Why am i not surprised?

Saw the line when I went to pick up Mexican food in the place that shares the parking lot - had no desire to join it.

It's teh awesome once it contains exactly what I want in ice cream (which is something I can't get anywhere else) but the base sweetcream ice cream, plain, is awful.

Primarily because they keep it half melted so that they can mix it easier so it both lacks lightness (which is good) or dense richness (which is good). And since they don't want it to compete it really has no good flavor of its own beyond "sweet." But that is understandable. Since the intent isn't to eat it plain it isn't a huge deal.

The only other flavor base I've had is the banana and that flavor tastes like it came straight from the test tube at the artificial food flavorings factory. Which is too bad because banana, peanut butter and graham cracker crust could be the best thing ever.

We just barely made it in (because instead of using the Disney method of placing a person at the end of the line to turn add'l people away they had a lady at the door letting only 10 minutes worth of people in the door and threatening to close it at 10), but we got ours!

Mmm... nearly free ice cream... :9
