I love the movie. It's a beautiful and strange love story.

Also second mp's The Night Porter recommendation, though I'd describe that as more erotic and horrifying.

I adored Secretary - it is probably among my top 15 favorites. I'll recommend the director's next film, which several people did not like (but I enjoyed - though not as much as Secretary.) It's Fur, an Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus, starring Nicole Kidman and Robert Downey Jr.

I also enjoyed the imaginary biography, and Robert Downy Jr. is just lovely in it.

I don't know why I haven't seen this one yet. It's a must.

You know, I can't think of a single erotic gay mainstream film. There needs to be more of them.

Priest was very good. Don't know if that qualifies as mainstream or not, but it was advertised and widely reviewed, if I recall correctly.

Saw it. I liked it. I guess it did have its erotic moments...

What about Wong Kar-Wai's Happy Together or Ming Liang Tsai's The River?

If this week doesn't work, we could have a CDM© screening on July 5 or 6...

Tony L. is Hot Hot Hot in Happy Together, but I HATED the movie. A couple so dysfunctional it's just disturbing. Oh, and with the most horrible cinematography and editing I think I've ever seen in a released film.

Hard to belive what a polished look the director achieved just a couple of years later.

Happy Together bummed me out. Don't know why...
Didn't see The River.

Beautiful Thing was nice. Big Eden, too.

I'd argue that the cinematography/editing was completely intentional. Happy Together was released three years after my two favorite Wong Kar-Wai movies, Ashes Of Time and Chung King Express.

Too many tangents for me to handle right now, though. If you want to get into a Wong Kar-Wai discussion, we can get into it later... and maybe even have a mini-film festival...

I saw Spetters at the Castro back in 1980. First mainstream movie I saw that had hand-to-whatsits contact.

The Fourth Man--same director, several of the same actors--had its moments, too.
