I am going to the Park today.....should be an interesting day at work!

I was sitting in my car, waiting for the light to change and I sorta felt my car being pushed forwards and backwards. I wasn't sure why that was. Then I got to El Pollo Loco and everyone said their cell phones weren't working. So I get back to Wachovia and my dad is telling me that we just had an earthquake.
Eeh, I'm not too impressed with what I felt. Earthquakes are like sex; don't settle for less than a 6 ;) |
Ken just came home for a few minutes. Target is evac'd until they clean up - lots of stuff is apparently on the floor. So, he'll be spending the next hour or so re-stacking the tampon boxes and vitamin bottles.
He says that the store shook hard too, so Garden Grove must be in a primo location for this one. Ugh. From what we have found so far, we've lost the first Christmas present I gave to Ken - a ceramic eagle. And, some vintage collectibles took a spill inside one of the living room cabinets. It appears my 1960's Donald lost a foot. Oy. I've been needing to dust anyway, so I suppose today's a good day. I hope nothing else is broken. It's weird - the cats were making a mad scramble across the floor just prior to the initial shaking. I thought they were just chasing each other like they usually do. They made a mad dash for under the bed. Now, I'll probably freak whenever I hear claws scrambling. Some "fun" things though - when I was standing in my office doorway, I was amused to see our Tiki dining room "come to life" - all the birds were swinging. Oh, and other amusing things - our cuckoo clock started itself up (we usually keep it off), and the Roomba just kept vacuuming the whole time, without a care in the world. If the roof had come down, at least the floor would have been clean! |
DP ~ Yikes.

I was in my cube, no one else in the office. A coworker from another division walks in to talk to me.
"We're getting lunch together today, right?" "Yup, at noon." "I thought so." *rumble rumble* "What should we do?" *RUMBLE* *both scramble under desks* "Maybe we should skip lunch today?" "Yeah, good idea." Both of us raced home to make sure our respective pets and homes were ok. Bunnies are fine, thank goodness. Before I left I checked the library and it looked like no one was really freaking out. A lot of pale faces with survival smiles and children clutching parents. Not a single book fell in our sorting room. |

I wonder how many people in L.A. broke things on purpose and are blaming the earthquake for it.
"I'm sorry, Honey. I don't know how all of your Precious Moments dolls broke... Must have been the earthquake!" :D |
I felt nothing up here. I usually feel the So Cal quakes, but I wasn't home.
