Can I just say that opening night was the best night ever? We had a stellar audience and the cast was right on the money. We got laughs throughout and had to hold for the laughter on several occasions (which is such a great feeling). A standing ovation and great feedback from the audience afterward.
I had the best night ever.
A couple of hours before the show started we found out that our stage manager was taken to the emergency room because of severe pains in his stomach and abdomen. Scary stuff. But we had someone step in for him and she totally rocked. It was like she was our SM from the very beginning.
Despite a couple of technical hitches that the audience was unaware of, the show went flawlessly. Reviewers and other prominent theatre directors and producers came to the show. I had a lot of great feedback about my character. One lady asked me what part of Alabama I was from. I had to tell her the truth that I was a local boy.
Hearing that so many people laughed and had a good time made all of the nervousness and feelings of barfitude prior to the show worth it.
I'm on Cloud 9. But I only got maybe 5 hours of sleep last night. There was an opening night party that we all attended and it went until midnight. Woops! I have to find the energy for tonight's show, but it'll come. It has to.
Anyway, thanks everyone for all of the words of encouragement. They mean a great deal to me.
:)
KB ~ That's a very good question.
