As someone who lived in NY for 15 years, the only thing I have ever complained about here is the lack of good east coast food. If I could find a good knish, Italian ice, or Sicilian pizza, you would never hear another complaint from my mouth.

It's the only thing I truly miss about living there. And no, there is no truly good pizza here. Nada.

I second the nada pizza comment.

See, while it's perfectly understandable that you miss good east coast food, I don't understand the complaining? This is the west coast! I call this complaining the "Amsterdam guacamole" syndrome: when I was 14 and we were living outside of Amsterdam I was really craving Mexican food so we went to this place called "Taco Tree." Needless to say, the food, particularly the guacamole, was nearly unrecognisable. I was initially upset, but then realized that I had an unrealistic expectation of getting authentic Mexican food in the Netherlands.

Since then I've tried the guacamole in Spain, France, Ireland and here in the States in New Hampshire, Georgia, North Carolina and I can't even remember where else...and OF COURSE it does not taste like that lovely green mushy stuff from the Southwest that I know and love. I've stopped expecting it to...like I've stopped ordering it! Now I enjoy exploring the local cuisine of whichever town I'm in. No more "Amsterdam guacamole" sadness!

Oh and pizza? It's a matter of taste of course, but I prefer Chicago-style. Hot dogs too. I was careful to not mention that in New York! :D Man, we had some great pub food though!

Well at least OJ isn't gonna get his TV time and Book released.
Jerk!

That's good news!

Well, the cable guy has two hours to get here and then we'll have HD and DVR! Wooooooo-hoooo! Okay, we haven't bought the HD TV yet, but we're on our way...;)

I miss the pallid tasteless tomatoes I grew up on in New York in the '60s and '70s.

I'm going to publicly mojo lizzie for her anti-coastism stance. Yes, NY has NY pizza. Yes, CA has CA churros. Why complain about what is missing? NY isn't LA, or vice-versa.

And, good god... If you think life in Los Angeles or NYC is missing some of your favorite things, thank your choice of deity that you didn't grow up in the midwest. Before the nineties, it had little ethnic food of ANY kind. (I grew up eating la choi "stir fry" and calling it asian food. Tacos consisted of hamburger with "taco seasoning," or pepper.) But living there isn't about the availability of ethnic food, it's about the lower expenses, and the shorter commutes, and the small-town feeling. If you don't like it where you live, leave it. But don't try to one-up where anybody else lives.

Yes, but the midwest has the best beef on the planet.

I prefer to eat my way around the world, consuming whatever each area does best. Food is good.

Jerk!

Word is he's going forward with a series of less controversial speculative denials: "If I Farted," "If I Took the Last Shrimp," and so on.
