I miss DSL

Yesterday, my T-Mobile internet access went down. This mornin it's up but every application I own seems to want to contact the mothership and my bandwidth has been hijacked at the moment for "important updates." I'm thinking it may be time to cruise local hotel lobbies for free wireless.

Our autographed Aerosmith guitar display came crashing down this morning (no damage, but Rose let out one hell of a scream)

The cookbook shelf in our kitchen fell down yesterday. Must be an epidemic.

So, in addition to a great Saturday, Sunday am, got a call, my friend Sally decided December 3rd was her day to go. Damn if she did not command me to change my plans, not come to LA and she went on her own terms. Bless her, I will miss her, but I carry many happy memories and much inspiration from this feisty, smart, funny and very wise woman.

Of course, Sally is now laughing, her daughter has asked her memorial service be held on the 9th, the day I was originally going to be at her house for our farewell date, and I cancelled my flight as requested, of course. So today I book a flight that will cost me much more Sally! I'll be flying down for the day, be on Sally's patio as originally planned, along with a whole mess of other people to say farewell as she is scattered on the beautiful hillside on their property.

A great friend to many and I was surprised to see her name in back of the Silly Symphonies book. I guess it's true, she knew everybody. Or so it would seem.

I'm sorry for your loss Snowflake. She sounds like a great friend.

I'm very sorry to hear about Sally! I know you knew this was inevitable, but that doesn't make the loss any easier.

So, my coworker/closer flaked out today - so I get's some OT! YIPPY!

There's a hotel convention visiting too - I got asked if I'd ever been a concierge, and have received a couple business cards...

We have the swankiest holiday music here, too.

Louis Prima, Frank Sinatra, Benny Goodman - over and over, all day long :)

Ho Ho Ho!!!

Yesterday I had to go to a neighbor's house a few doors down, and remind them that we were under a red flag fire warning, and that with the Santa Ana winds, shooting off bottle rockets into the dry palm trees might not be a good idea. The grown man and his wife shooing them off from their front steps agreed that maybe it wasn't the best idea.

What ever happened to common since?

I guess common sense just isn't so common...
Were the people cleaning clothes with gasoline next to a campfire, too?
