What exactly do you want instead? Should we have spent the last 30+ years since his presidency ended taking time out of the day to discuss Gerald Ford? "Stop what you're doing, it's the Gerald Ford minute!"

It's not possible to continually keep every single person worthy of recognition in the public consciousness at all times. So yes, it does take a significant event such as death to bring them up again if the specific time of their influence has passed. I don't see anything wrong with that.

Nor do I see anything wrong with a glance back at critical historical moments with the benefit of 30+ years' distance. But while the pardoning of Nixon was certainly monstrously important, it doesn't seem to me to be all that complex or shrouded in mystery to warrant the amount of talking head time it's gotten. I know I wasn't there, but the number of times I've heard, "Damned if he did, damned if he didn't" and other similar conclusions is telling me that the influences, risks, and benefits are all pretty well known and agreed upon. He did a lot more in his life than make that one decission. Let's move on, eh?

They're not talking about Nixon; they're wallowing in Watergate, which was, for anyone alive back then, a "Holy sh**!" jaw dropping event from start to finish.

Bigger than OJ, for all you Carter administration babies and beyond.

For days my favorite cartoons and sitcoms were interrupted by Watergate - on all networks! that's one plus for cable , no more of this collective political experience nonsense.

I had been thinking a lot about if Bush were impeached how the vice pres {wait, that would be Cheney????} would come in like Ford and 'heal' the country. That it is possible, that we aren't 'stuck'.

That is what I thought about what is being brought up; we could get out of this mess and be a united country again.

But it is Cheney we would be stepping up...I mean, he shoots his friends.....

And yet, paradoxically, I can only sympathize because if you told me what my favorite sit-coms were, I would have heard of them and probably watched them as well. Nowadays, I have no idea what's on the second tier networks and the various cable stations. (Of course, I'm fairly dim on the big four as well.)

America was a better place when we all watched the Saturday night CBS lineup and talky, non-violent shows like "All in the Family" and "Maude" passed for envelope-pushing TV.

Make that YOUR favorite sit-coms. (For some reason, the edit feature is taking forever.)

More finds:

A customized blue pillow that says "Give Me Head"
An Eddie Bauer Air Matress
Several blue bags

Cadaverous Pallor 01-02-2007 08:05 PM

One of the blue bags is GD's. I can't believe someone forgot their air mattress and hasn't talked to you yet!

I remembered my "There's got to be a morning after" pillow :D

I have plenty of leftover bags and booty.
I found a smashed horn in my guest bed.
Party archeology is fun!
