I'm loving 2007 already - it's my first day back at work, and I bought 2 lotto scratchers at the downstairs convenience store. Between both, I won $30. I cashed in $29 and also took a quick-pick for this evening's Super Lotto draw. They say things come in threes........... :D

Sooo...

We have some new blood up at my office. I noticed an odd calendar on her wall today. Upon closer inspection it turned out to be a burning man calendar.

Yup. We could have a live one here.

.....

my landlord called me today, he wants to do a walkthrough and emphasized that I do not need to be home for it. My gut is not liking this at all.

When the guy was explaining the process to me, it reminded me of how they load the off-track handicapped cars for Space Mountain).

Oh gah! I had to have this done with two of my molars. She has my sympathies!

So....

AZ built this new stadium for the Cardinals. It's indoor, but has a grass field that can roll outside on a giant platform to be watered and get the necessary sunlight.

With the bowl games (Fiesta Bowl on 1/1 and the BCS championship this Sat), and the end of the season for the Cards, they added a whole bunch of seats at the end of the endzones so they could sell extra tickets.

Problem is now the field can't roll out. It's too hard to move those extra seats. The field can't be watered and gets no sunlight. So it died. Now they are in a panic because they have to resod the entire field before Saturday. At a cost I've heard estimated at anywhere from 250K to 1 a million.

My tax dollars are paying for that. I voted against the damn stadium in the first place.

Morons.

The Cards? I didn't know anyone in Arizona cared enough about their football team to speak of it in the affectionate diminutive.

tracilicious 01-04-2007 08:36 AM

No, it's just that none of us care about the team enough to waste more than one syllable on them.

Strangler Lewis 01-04-2007 09:14 AM

True enough. When my team was in its heyday, it wasn't just the Niners or the Forty-Niners. It was the Forty-f*****'-Niners.

We should probably start calling the Raiders the "Ders."

I did waste a few syllables on the Cardinals this year, but it's probably a mercy that we didn't make the playoffs.
